Antenatal care

Book your first antenatal visit as soon as you think you are pregnant. Care is free at public clinics and includes blood tests, blood pressure checks, iron and folic acid, and support to plan a safe delivery.

Childhood immunisation

Immunisation protects children against measles, polio, diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, hepatitis B, pneumococcal disease and more. Bring your child's health card to every visit.

  • At birth: BCG and hepatitis B
  • 6, 10 and 14 weeks: pentavalent, polio and pneumococcal
  • 12 months: measles, mumps and rubella
  • 18 months and 4 years: booster doses

Growth and development

Well-child visits check weight, height, hearing, sight and development. Raise any worry about speech, movement or behaviour early — support works best when it starts young.
