Register a new baby and get a birth certificate. Registration is required within 30 days of birth.

How to do it
- Collect the notification of birthThe hospital or attending midwife issues a notification of birth before you leave.
- Attend the registryBoth parents should attend where possible. One parent may register alone with valid ID.
- Check the entry before you signRead every spelling and date carefully. Corrections after registration take longer.
- Request certified copiesAsk for at least two certified copies — schools, passports and NHI all require them.
