Stop mosquitoes breeding
The mosquito that spreads dengue breeds in clean, still water close to houses. Removing water is the single most effective action a household can take.
- Empty and scrub water drums, buckets, tyres and plant pots weekly
- Cover water storage containers tightly
- Clear blocked gutters and drains
- Use screens, nets and repellent, especially at dawn and dusk
If you get a fever
Rest, drink plenty of fluids and use paracetamol for fever. Do not take aspirin or ibuprofen — they increase bleeding risk in dengue.
Vector control teams may visit your area for spraying and inspection. Please allow them access.
